The historic village is tiny, built around the Aldie Mill that started grinding grain in 1809, but the name now covers big planned communities like Willowsford and Creighton Farms, where the draw is space, preserved farmland, trails, and top-of-the-state Loudoun County schools. The honest catch is the commute: no Metro out here, so a DC office job means a drive to the Ashburn Silver Line about 20 minutes north then close to an hour on the train, or roughly 45 minutes up Route 50 and the Greenway by car. People who pick Aldie are buying the quiet, the schools, and a Saturday at a winery, not a quick hop downtown.

Skip the chains out on the highway and pull into Quattro Goomba’s Brewery and Winery at 22860 James Monroe Highway, a family-run spot that pours its own wine and small-batch beer and bakes Sicilian pizza in a converted horse barn. - Assuming the school pyramid is stable. Fairfax, Loudoun, and Arlington counties redistrict every few years. If school assignment is a factor, verify current boundaries directly with FCPS, LCPS, or APS admissions rather than trusting the address on Zillow.
